Group meditation every Sunday at 9am.

meditation at Sacred Ground

Sally Bardsley began holding meditation classes at Sacred Ground in 2001. Though meditation practice went through fits and starts, a core group of meditators formed the Dharma Practice Group, begun in June of 2006, to provide a practice setting to explore Buddhist teachings and meditation and incorporate them into their way of life.

currently

Steve Heinz, PhD, a retired psychologist who has been studying and practicing for over 30 years, leads the Dharma Practice Group. While not affiliated with any larger institution or with any specific lineage or style of Buddhism, teachings and methods from each of the major Buddhist traditions are utilized, including Theravadin, Tibetan, and Zen Buddhism. No prior knowledge of Buddhism or meditation is required. All who are interested are welcome to attend. The Dharma Practice Group meets weekly at Sacred Ground on Sunday mornings, 9:00am to 10:30am, for 30 minutes of meditation followed by a Dharma talk and discussion. Meditation mats and cushions are available for anyone’s use. On the first Saturday of even-numbered months, a daylong session is held at Sacred Ground from 8:30am to approximately 5:00pm. This daylong session consists of alternating periods of sitting meditation and walking meditation, and includes a Dharma talk. Individual interviews may also be scheduled, by appointment, with Steve to discuss one’s personal practice and how to apply Buddhist teachings and methods to the individual circumstances of one’s life.
